After a bumper attendance at our last home game, the wind and rain took its toll and a much smaller crowd was at Brantingham Road for this encounter against Colne. The stay-aways made a good choice. The wind played its part in affecting the quality of play, but the game largely centred round some mystifying and inconsistent refereeing decisions. Road had Josh Gittings and Rob Brocklehurst sent off in the early part of the second half thus ensuring that any sort of contest was over.
It is obviously better to take time to consider the right wording when matches of this type have to be reported on, but sufficient to say that there were many disgruntled players and supporters at the end of the match. An official match report will follow in due course.
Fixture Kick-Off Change
Please note that next Monday's home game will kick-off at the later time of 20.00 hours to assist Stone Dominoes in their travel arrangements.
We are pleased to confirm that today's match v Colne is definitely ON! See you there!
20/01/2012
With some milder weather this week our game at Brantingham Road is looking good to be on. Colne lie two places and two points better off than Road and have played a game less.Last season Road defeated our visitors 4-1 at home, but went down 2-1 at Colne with a side (and management!) that was depleted due to the counter-attraction of an FA Cup Semi-Final at Wembley.
With the major Premier League games not being played until Sunday, it is a good chance to get down to Brantingham Road and give the lads a cheer.
28/11/2011 "Weekly Forecast By E-Mail"
Maine Road FC's very popular 'Weekly Forecast' Sheet is now available via e-mail. Many of Road's Supporters will have received an e-mail yesterday explaining how they can have fun, test their football knowlege and support the club all at the same time. The e-mail read thus:
"The Maine Road FC ‘Weekly Forecast’ has been an enjoyable and effective way of raising funds for the club for some time now. For those who don’t know, this is a chance to win up to £1000 for predicting 8 of the weekends results correctly. We already have connections in Bristol and at M.C.F.C. e-mailing their coupon to us and we thought we would expand this method out into our wider supporter base.
Attached is next weekend’s coupon. If you would like to have a go, the instructions are on the sheet. Ideally fill it in, scan and return to this address. If you don’t have a scanner then simply e-mail your selections and they will be transposed onto a coupon for you. Alternatively, if you are in weekly contact with Derek Barber or any of the Maine Road Committee, then merely pass the coupon onto them in the conventional way, together with payment.
Whilst we would be more than happy to take just a couple of selections from just yourself, it would be even better if you could get your friends, workmates, pub regulars and relatives to contribute on a weekly basis. One way of encouraging regular contributors is to draw up a weekly Prediction League between your contacts. There are currently three of these in operation in pubs & offices and they certainly bring out the competitive streak in people and ensure a keenness to seek out the coupon on a weekly basis!
Payment: For those returning the coupon by e-mail, we will simply keep an account of any amounts due or take payments upfront whichever suits you best
.
Go on - Give It a go and help secure the future of Maine Road FC
If you would like to join in send your e-mail address via the contacts page of the web-site and we will reply with a coupon attached.
